Yesterday, I ran a double. That's when you run twice. I ran two miles at work in the gym on one of the shitty treadmills they have there while watching Family Feud, and then I ran three miles at the YMCA on one of the choice treadmills they have with the built-in TVs. Both workouts sucked. My legs felt awful. I have this sensation where I feel like each muscle is peeling away from the bone, like each component of my lower legs is going to come apart like some exploded diagram in an anatomy book. The sensation is in both legs at and below the knees. Today it is better, but yesterday was rough.
This weekend I have another race: the Frostbite 5K. Again, it is in Cherokee Park, a hilly, local city park. I feel the best about this race of the three in the series. I've put in the miles, though I have not done as much hill-work as I would have preferred. I would have preferred to run the park at least once a week, but I cannot bring myself to run outside when it is under 30°.
Off-topic: I've started using lala.com, a music trading service, to get rid of some of my excess CDs. I really like it. Check out my collection and let's trade!
I called this post "Goal Limbo" because I have passed the 1000 km/year pace bunny, and *knock*on*wood* I don't intend to be threatened by it again this year. And I am 43 miles behind the 1000 miles/year pace bunny. Until I start running more than 19.2 miles per week, sometime next week or beyond, I will either keep pace with or continue to extend the gap between myself and that goal. In fact, if my math is correct, I will have to run 20.5 miles/week to cross the 1000 mile mark on December 31, 2007. It's not an unachievable goal, but it's daunting. Last week I ran 18.3 miles, and this week I plan to run 19. We'll see.
