ORN: 4 miles in 43:33.
I'm still very depressed so you aren't going to be getting anything wordy, pithy, upbeat, or life-changing out of me. Feel fortunate that I don't start posting emo poems from when I was in college.
*fingersnap*fingersnap*fingersnap*fingersnap*
Sometime in the wee hours, I briefly halfway woke up to the sound of pounding rain. I thought, oh nice, what a way to break in my new go-fasters -- a new pair of Mizuno Wave Inspires -- running in a downpour. But by the time I crept out of my casket at 0500 hours, the rain had stopped, leaving a stifling humidity behind. Seriously, it wasn't hot, but the weather was downright swampy. When I finished my run [unspectacular + slow], I was drenched. I don't think all of it was sweat. I think most of it was condensed water from the atmosphere. I mean, I think I actually gained weight during the run by inhaling a gallon of water vapor from the air.
The shoes? The shoes are great. They fit snug and are much lighter than the Nike Air Structure Triaxes I've been using for about the last 460 miles. The Mizunos are quite well cushioned. If I have a complaint, it's that they wiggled a bit in the heel when I first tried them on, but the sales person showed me a lacing hack that eliminated this wiggle almost completely. After my first run with them, I will say that I am pleased but not overwhelmed with glee. I think I am still looking for "my shoe," the one that changes everything.
1 Only a slight parody of the sort of whiny, angsty crap I wrote. Buy me a beer sometime and I will give you my rant on how much I hate what passed for poetry back in the day. I won't say modern poetry is still 100% crapola because I stopped reading it ten years ago out of complete disgust and self-loathing.
