The data are damning

This graph shows how much I have slacked off since the Derby Marathon. After that Half, I fell into a pit of self-loathing and laziness from which I am only now extracating myself.

Right now, I would have to run 25+ miles per week, every week, to break 1,000 miles for 2008. I could do it, maybe. But history isn't in my favor. I have never run a 100 mile month, and that is what it would take. Five of them in a row, to be precise.

Since the 1,000 mile goal is a bit of a stretch, I have to stay focused on what is right in front of me -- the Louisville Half Marathon in October. I have to get my mileage up for that and stay consistent for the next 10 weeks or so. And if I can improve my speed, then that would be just ducky.

  1. You can do what I'm going to try - make my year July-June. We'll see what happens... A friend is mine is shooting for 1,000 miles in his birthday year. It started mid-June. That's another possibility.
