Chewing on stuff

ORN: Today I ran 2.5 miles in 26'08", which was marginally faster than Tuesday's run. Good for me. As I ran along the river, the sky was overcast, the air cool. Fall is nigh. The Belle of Louisville's calliope was playing "Camptown Ladies." The experience could only have been more Kentucky if I were sipping bourbon and eating burgoo as I ran. That would have been tricky.

The run gave me a chance to clear my head and get my thoughts in order in advance of an important meeting I have this afternoon. [One might call it an interview.] I need to be at the top of my game and at peak confidence. As I ran along, I brainstormed what I was going to say, what I was going to push for, and what I would and would not accept. I alternated between clearing my head and thinking about the meeting, allowing my intuition and conscious mind equal CPU time. Running is great for this sort of reflection and concentration.

Off-topic but I watched the McCain-Obama debate last night. It didn't change my mind in the least, yet I thought both candidates did surprisingly well. McCain wasn't as whiny as he was last time, and Obama held his ground effectively, though he could have been more aggressive. [Same old story, Republicans fight dirty, tooth and nail, and Democrats try to be sporting and civil and play nice. And they get their asses handed to them most of the time.] Both candidates scored points on each other, but at the end of it all, like I said, I am still voting the same way. I'm ready to go. Can we skip ahead to election day and get all this over with?

  1. Better yet, can we just skip straight to January when Bush leaves?
