The day started off well. I sprang out of bed, despite a late night of Grey Goose lemon-flavored vodka 'n' tonics. I drank down several glasses of water and headed to the store. Our course was an unfamiliar one that built on the 8-9 mile loops we've been doing lately. Tracy extended it out to a full 10.2 by wending further into the park and around the surrounding neighborhoods.
The morning was cold -- 29° starting out, but later it was warmer. But the day was clear and bright. Hundreds of runners were out and about.
The course itself was murderously hilly. I hated it. We even went up Maple Drive, which is a nearly mile-long hill leading up from the park toward the Presbyterian Seminary. I'm so tired right now, and my feet are so sore, I don't want to do anything but whimper.

First, I love others who are silly enough to drink too much on Fridays then run hard on Saturdays. I don't know what it says about us, but it's something funny.
ReplyDeleteSecond, Maple must be viewed with a Nietzschean eye -- it will make you strong!
But if it helps, we all stopped at the top, bitched about it and stretched before we took off again.
By the way, I decided to check -- it's a .40 mile hill with 90 feet of climb. I think that makes it just over 4% grade.
